Is This You?

This service is for individuals who feel like they’re carrying more than they can manage on their own. On the outside, you may appear to have it together, but internally you’re exhausted. Maybe you’ve always been a worrier, or perhaps you’ve noticed a gradual shift where life feels heavier and less enjoyable than it used to. You may be navigating a stressful season of life, recovering from a difficult experience, or simply feeling stuck and unsure how to feel like yourself again.

You may spend much of your day overthinking conversations, anticipating worst-case scenarios, or finding it difficult to sleep because your thoughts won’t slow down. At the same time, you may be experiencing low motivation, emotional exhaustion, irritability, sadness, or numbness. Things you once enjoyed may feel like chores. You may find yourself withdrawing from friends and family, carrying a harsh inner voice that tells you you’re not doing enough, or simply not enough. More than anything, you’re likely longing for relief.

Why Anxiety and Depression Develop

At New Narratives Counseling, we understand that anxiety and depression rarely have a single cause. Common contributing factors include:

Chronic Stress and Burnout

Many people spend years pushing through demanding schedules, caregiving responsibilities, work stress, or other life challenges without enough time to rest and recover. Over time, constantly operating in survival mode leaves both the mind and body feeling depleted.

Unhelpful Thought Patterns and Self-Criticism

Constant worry, catastrophizing, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or a harsh inner critic can make it difficult to feel confident or good enough, even when things are going well.

Difficult Life Experiences and Unresolved Pain

Past experiences such as trauma, grief, loss, bullying, or major life transitions can have a lasting impact on emotional well-being. Sometimes anxiety and depression develop when these experiences have not been fully processed.

Feeling Disconnected from Yourself and Others

Many clients struggling with anxiety and depression describe feeling isolated, unsupported, or disconnected from their relationships and sense of purpose.

Our Approach

While learning practical coping tools is important, we also help clients understand the deeper patterns and beliefs that may be contributing to their struggles. Using a combination of Narrative Therapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and experiential approaches, we help clients identify the thoughts and patterns keeping them stuck while building new ways of responding to life’s challenges.

Anxiety and depression are among the most common concerns we help clients navigate at New Narratives Counseling in Allen, TX. Our clinicians have extensive experience supporting teens and adults who struggle with chronic worry, panic, overwhelm, low mood, burnout, and self-criticism. Our team is trained in CBT, DBT, mindfulness-based interventions, Narrative Therapy, and trauma-informed care.

What to Expect

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll spend time discussing what brought you to therapy, exploring your current concerns, and identifying what you hope to gain from the process. Sessions are tailored to your unique needs and are typically 50 minutes, scheduled weekly. Both in-person and virtual options are available at 550 S. Watters Road, Suite 241, Allen, TX 75013. We are a private-pay practice and superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement.
